"The Speech"

I would be remiss if I did not post a link to video of Gov. Palin's speech in Evansville last night - especial since a lot of the people here were been Palinistas long before most people knew what that word meant. Personally, I thought she did a good job, and - more specifically - that this speech was "vintage Sarah" rather than "campaign Sarah". The tone was relentlessly positive but still brutally honest, and every issue was related to her personal experience. This was how Sarah operated as a candidate and as a Governor - and I'm suddenly very glad that she has so much time detoxing in Alaska. If this Sarah continues to show up, we are well on our way to eliminating the negativity of the campaign - and charging toward a Palin presidency.

Welcome back, Governor.

(Note: I posted a link instead of an embed on purpose - I can't get that cool loop to run like C4P did, and I don't want to post 8 videos)

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
    I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love thee with a passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints, --- I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life! --- and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

  2. I agree Adam. I loved the speech last night. I think it rivaled the RNC speech and in a way thought it was better, because as you said it was vintage Sarah. The speech was hers and hers alone. It was passionate, humourous and genuine. It was heartwarming to see her. I think it was a pick me up for her and for all of us too.
Gelston thanks for posting that beautiful poem. It was spot on.

  3. There is of course a strategy of pre-emption afoot, with the MSM and online media such as HuffPo all going after Palin in a substained effort, as mysterious "leaks" from nobody/false rumors, persist. If Sarah Palin is so silly and irrelevant, why the obsession?

Clearly the Left noted her appeal, and are out to eliminate the threat- It's not like it's not obvious-

And liberals' double-standard sexism is appalling; she's "dumb" because she's a happy and attractive Christian, who enjoys being a mother? Real feminists need to be angry, wear combat boots, no make-up, short hair, and live alone in a studio apartment in the East Village?

She's not the right kind of example because she doesn't support affirmative action... but instead went out there and just kicked butt? Sarah Palin has been highly successful in life while ignoring the left-wing feminist model... this helps to explain the extra dose of venom in the attacks.

Democrats are plenty afraid of Palin coming-back at them in 2012 with a dynamic and complementary VP like Bobby Jindal... or visa versa. And they have plenty of reason to fear her. Palin is the most popular governor in the country; her 60+% approval rating exceeds that of the MSM-pimped Obama... are all those people up there idiots?

Alaska was a pretty corrupt system until she stepped in. Her reforms took on entrenched politicians (inc. Republicans), a mafioso-style union boss, and Big Oil.

Wouldn't it have been nice if Obama had been principled and brave enough to confront the corrupt Chicago Democratic Machine? Or shady political operators like Tony Rezko? Racist preachers? Instead of doing business with every last one of them?

Go get em, Sarah- and don't mind the press, nobody will be listening to them anymore after the pending Obamamania implosion.

  4. As parents of two children who experience autism, my husband and I were VERY touched by Sarah's speech; it brought us both to tears, because she was so open, honest, compassionate, and JOYFUL about the birth of their special-needs son. We are SO proud of Alaskans (and Idahoans, since she was born and went to college here!) for gifting the world with this authentic person who HAPPENS to work as a CEO in the realm of politics.

No other politicians can continue to LIE to themselves that it's impossible to stay honest and in politics, because Sarah Palin shows WITH GOD, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!

Bless your hearts, Adam, Gelston, Manajordan, RRR, and all other true Palinistas! You're fantastic for appreciating the treasure of Governor Palin.

  5. Message to Americansa and US immigrants,

If you still want The United States to be saved from total collapse and devastation, Sarah Palin WILL be and MUST be PRESIDENT of the United States in 2012 or before that. So help us God!!!

  6. Happy birthday to the will-be-first-son (hopefully) Trig Paxson Van Palin. My Shock will celebrate tonight (down your way Ma) by winning their 50th game.

I'm not sure how early he was, but I'm pretty sure that on time, his birthday would have been around the same time as mine (five weeks from this Wed).

These losers in the media can't stop her, they know it. The one person who lost and gained momentum, we know him as our 40th president. They keep attacking her (as they did him) and it's only going to backfire. The dying RINOs in their last-ditch attempt to save themselves will do the same and meet similar results.

I had an interesting discussion this past week about the rise of rock-and-roll in the mid-50s and the establishment's lame attempts to counter Elvis/Little Richard/Chuck Berry/etc with the Pat Boones of the world. Basically their way of "giving us what we want" without really doing so. Fast forward half a century later and replace music with politics it's the same thing. People want a politician (I won't even use that word), they want someone who knows them, identifies with them, they want someone who they can trust. So the media, playing the part of the 50s establishment (the predecessor to parental advisory PMRC types), said all the sudden "we'll give the people what they want. We'll present him as family values, clean cut, the American dream", and a bunch of other stupid crap that doesn't apply. Just call him Pat Boone Obama (and Sarah Elvis:)--but this doesn't exclude Bobby either)

So those of you looking for the media to turn against Obama, it won't happen, we've seen them turn against Clinton (weakly so that it was), but he wasn't their candidate to the degree that Obama is. Like I was saying a few weeks back, they've invested way too much and essentially sacrificed their entire business (as to what media should be) to cut their losses with him. They're going down with the Obama Titanic, get used to it (as lately evidenced by the embarrassing Garafalo/Olberdork-Countdown To No Ratings display).

Yes those legislators have it so tough, 90 days a year (and maybe two of actual work) and the rest of the time campaigning. Reminds me of TOTUS. Wonder if Sarah can do recess appointments.

  7. Speaking of Loserboy, I can't believe Sarah actually wanted to work at ESPN at one point. It is possible, however, that Olberdork was hired as a backup because our lady decided against a further career in sportscasting (had she done so, she likely would have made the move to the bigs about the same time Doofus-boy was hired).

Just in case you forgot a few things about Obie The Clown:

He left NBC in 1998 over the Lewisnky scandal. Good to see he was still respectful of POTUS when he told Dubya to shut the hell up a decade later.

He worked at Fox Sports from that point until 2001 (and wasn't what you'd call.....good. It should be known that FOX's lowest ratings were during this time). I wonder if he's actively trying to get back in a spatful way.

He used to date Laura Ingraham, and has occasion belittled her (his Worst Person in the World) since, almost confirning my suspicions that George W. Bush and Molly Ivins had a fling at some point.

He totally knows nothing about either of the subjects he covers, news or sports. During SportsCenter one year, he complained that the Cowboys had an interception overturned when it was ruled that the interceptor (Darren Woodson I think) was out of bounds, to which he pitched a huge fit, screaming "Out of bounds? I DON'T THINK SO!" while the still is shown with Woodson's foot clearly halfway out of bounds. There's also the famous clip of him during Super Tuesday (the infamous "thrill up my leg" clip) announcing that McCain was exiting to the tune of the instrumental version of "Johnny B. Goode", then Chuck starts singing two seconds later.

And of course, there's the aforementioned Garafalo embarrassment (of course I should also point out that Garafalo is herself an embarrassment, and could very well have pushed 24 to its shark-jumping point).

Not to mention his shoddy-at-best performance on NBC's NFL coverage. But to be fair the show is so overpopulated with dolts and has-beens anyway that you barely notice him. He did manage to work in a lame Tina Feyish dig at Sarah during a clip in which Trent Edwards was knocked out of a game last year. He also had a banner year (2007) in which he took Texans DT Travis Johnson to task, made a tasteless joke about falling off a house the weekend Max McGee did just that, and also incorrectly identified Denver as west of the Rockies.

It is possible the tool could in fact be our tool to victory!

  9. YOU'RE RIGHT K! Almost as good as the embarrassing Obama-hump piece I read in the (puke) Inlander about how Obama is the American Dream and how he's worked hard to get where he is and all this other stupid crap that, well, even the Soviets in their heyday would have been too embarrassed to put in Pravda. And no, it actually WASN'T written by Chris Matthews!

What's the matter? Can't handle where the movement really is? You're sitting here throwing all your resources that you could be using for say........Iran, into hammering supposedly defeated enemies--and weakly at that. So how much of a pass are we going to have to give your president/how long until he actually decides he's ready to take the responsibility?

So again, if there's no fear of Palin, Jindal, Rush, Hannity, whomever--they've already been beaten apparently, why are the all-knowing gods Carville and Axelrod concerned about them? This is the equivalent of gameplanning to stop Calvin Johnson even after you've already beat the Lions, you understand.

  10. It's more like the Steelers (Obama) game planning for the Arena League champions (whoever the Republicans turn to): They have to do it, but the outcome isn't in doubt and they don't actually respect their opponent.

  11. k.
the first rule of combat is to never underestimate your enemy (you have a hatred of the conservatives and yet you do not respect them).

I was blessed growing up. My brother was an obscessive winner. The game was never the game. The game was trying to figure out how he would win no matter what you did or how the cards were dealt.

Obama is a misogynist, but he is not a winner.
Sarah is a winner. You live in Peter Puget's Sound, K., so you know how tough Alaskans are.

K., I want to help you. Overestimate Sarah if you want to defeat her. You are playing a losing hand.

this is the 234th anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord.

  13. "It's more like the Steelers (Obama) game planning for the Arena League champions (whoever the Republicans turn to): They have to do it, but the outcome isn't in doubt and they don't actually respect their opponent."

First of all K. No self-respecting 12thman would EVER use the Steelers as an example in that regard. But you're correct that the similarities between the Steelers and today's Democrats (including Obama's pal Dan Rooney) are endless, which is why I wish Rush would get a better team.

Second of all, you obviously didn't get the inference. Sarah is Calvin Johnson, the best player stuck on the worst team--Lions, who probably would barely beat the Philadelphia Soul since more than a few of them are bottom-barrel team castoffs.

So why are the "Steelers" (whose fifth SB "win" had much in common with the political triumphs of Chris Gregoire, Barack Obama, Brad Henry, and most recently, Al Franken) gameplanning for the "Lions" when the "Ravens" (economy), "Chargers" (energy), and "Patriots" (military/foreign policy) await? The GOP is obviously run by Matt Millen. So why waste time on a non-threat?

  15. Actually Gelston, upon further review, this is a rather crap day in our recent history (and they all have fingerprints of rotten libs all over it):

Waco, 1993: Janet Reno's call to arms, Eric Holder definitely learned from the best.......

OKC, 1995: Bill Clinton heals the country by attacking Rush, which really worked so well when it was tried two months ago..........

Columbine, 1999: Michael Moron, chief attacker of capitalism, makes millions while pinning deaths of innocent children not on crack-dealers or the actual perpetrators, but Charlton Heston and the NRA, whom he also compares to the KKK.

    But there's more,

Trinidad, 2009: Barack Obama fully channels Neville Chamberlain. Of course this is merely the first time AS POTUS (TOTUS) he's done so.

Even the battles of L/C spawned Benedict Arnold, a hero to today's liberal.

Between this and last Wed this REALLY must have their favorite week of the year.

  16. " (you have a hatred of the conservatives and yet you do not respect them)."

Where in the world would anyone get the idea that I "hate" conservatives? I think conservatism is philosophically and -- thanks to the Bush Administration -- morally bankrupt, but I don't see how that translates into hate. As for respect, well, give me something to respect.
