Well, out favorite Governor is at it again. Today, she rejected a full 45% of the money available to Alaska under the so-called stimulus package. As someone who has followed the Governor for a long time, I know that this is classic Sarah - and it really reminds me of the times she slashed huge sums out of the state budget and slowed the growth of government in Alaska.
One thing you may not have seen in the national media is Sarah's full statement on the subject, but video is available from KTUU News in Anchorage, and I really wanted to show it to you. This is our proof that Sarah is back in "serious executive" mode, and for my two cents, it means that the Sarah Palin we remember from before the VP run is back and better than ever.

Adam here is the Youtube version of the video so you can post it here. I'm not even a fan of Palin, but as a reasonable democrat, I'm always willing to help out. Take Care
ReplyDeletePalin Speech
Oh life is good: the Zags are movin on after their first tourney win in three years, the Shock are ready to lay the whoop stick again this year, the Chiefs are right where they were last year when they won the Memorial Cup, and my governor (not to be confused with that incompetent bureaucrat in Olympia) is on a roll!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of which, I'd like to point out that the last time the aforementioned pride of Spokane, WA the Gonzaga Bulldogs played their next opponent, the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, it was in front of Governor Palin herself at the Great Alaska Shootout in Nov. 2007 with the Zags winning 80-72 and taking third place. There's significantly more at stake here, what with a Sweet 16 showdown against Teleprompter of the United States' team of choice, the North Carolina Tar Heels, lying in the balance. Nonetheless, this is the tenth anniversary of GU's run to the Elite Eight, would be a great year to go back. The fact that UNC is TOTUS' team (remember him hobnobbing with all of them last year) just makes it even better.
Go get em Sarah and Zags!
I have to take some of that back unfortunately, it's not all roses. I just found out that CMR (along with Cantor, Cao, and suprisingly enough, McClintock)
ReplyDeletevoted FOR the Rangel (90% bonus tax) bill. Oh Cathy I'm SO disappointed.
You know better than to go along with what "TAXES?! WHAT TAXES?!", Countrywide, and the Banking Queen want. I am relieved to see that Michele Bachmann isn't on this list however.
But a disappointing loss nonetheless.
This was fabulous news! The woman can govern!
ReplyDelete12th man I am with you on the Zags. Every year at least one of my brackets has them winning the whole thing. One of these years, this year hopefully, it will be true.
I would love to at least see the Zags make the Final Four one of these years...especially considering that the team I was expecting to make a Cinderella run (Utah State) got eliminated :-(
ReplyDeleteI like Sara Palin...but I think 2012 will not be her year to be run for President, mainly because of the economic, political and social climate.
ReplyDeleteI am quite confident that a different Republican leader will run for president...probably one with a significant amount of business experience.
I swear Glenn Beck wants to run. He'll have a built-in support group----the LDS----and he's garnering TONS of support nationally with his new "9-12" project.
ReplyDeleteI like him, but I get nervous when pundits cry a lot; it feels manipulative. I think Glenn is truly moved, but it won't work often in the presidency.
Meanwhile, Sarah is doing SO well; her polls are still HIGH! America will see her rise to the forefront again, thanks be to GOD!
i wouldn't be surprised (if glenn did run), knowing the nastiness of the opposition, if they linked his constant crying with mental illness in his family history.
ReplyDeleteOh, I bet you're RIGHT, Scott! Well, I hope GBeck follows this blog, then (wink), so he can grow a "stiff upper lip" (well, if he wants the presidency, that is).
ReplyDeleteCome to think of it, most people have SOMEONE in their extended family with mental problems, so it's maybe more likely they'd suggest that GLENN had those issues himself----especially since he's an openly-recovering alcoholic. The liberals were pretty unforgiving that way with BushII (I wonder how HE is doing these days, btw; probably relieved as can be, to be OUT of D.C.!).

ReplyDeleteSupport for the Democratic Congressional candidates fell to a new low over the past week, allowing the GOP to move slightly head for the first time #### IN RECENT YEARS #### in the Generic Congressional Ballot.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 41% said they would vote for their district’s Republican candidate while 39% would choose the Democrat.
Investors now favor Republicans by a 46% to 36% margin, while non-investors would vote Democratic by a 45% to 33% margin.
Democrats began the year holding a six or seven point lead over the GOP for the first several weeks of 2009. Over the past month, the gap has been smaller, with Democrats holding a two-to-four point lead. It remains to be seen whether the current results reflect lasting change or statistical noise.
i'm still waiting for the change i can believe in
ReplyDeleteD-MAN-TRI!!!!!!!! Hey the last time I saw a coast-to-coast runner like that to win a tournment game it was Tyus Edney of eventual national champion UCLA, just sayin...........
ReplyDeleteAnd the Zags are back in the Sweet 16, this time they take aim at Team Obama Friday night. You see, this means a lot to me, way more than just hoops.
See, The future-Teleprompter of the United States wouldn't come to our burgh last year during the primaries. Of course he probably knew enough not to show himself after his embarrassing Hanford gaffe (if we only knew.........), unfortunately Barack-a-mania was beginning to take hold. The Communist Manifesto formerly known as the Spokesman-Review had been trying to liberalize our area for years but to no avail. But everything fell to form in 2008, and eight months later we sadly became the only county in E Wa to go blue. I've also had to make the very tough decision to put Rep. McMorris-Rodgers on tight probation after she embarrassingly hitched herself to the faux AIG outrage and went with the Rangel tax bill (there's a joke in itself). Make no mistake, I'm no fan of AIG, but this monster was created by Countrywide (Dodd), The Banking Queen (Frank), and The No-Taxmen (Rangel, Timmay), so I would HARDLY share their "outrage".
I know this is the worst thing for all the Obots up here (here not the board but the 509) to happen. On one hand, UNC being Obama's choice, but on the the other, going with TOTUS' team would be going against our team. Of course I'm perfectly aware that many people (too many) from here hate GU despite the fact they're our team, I also suspect the same people are also Obama disciples, and I never expect anything stupid such as pride to be in their possession.
I don't go to GU (I'm stuck at the socialist EWU instead) but I am a bigtime supporter of the Zags in both basketball and baseball (Jason Bay), plus GU is where I saw David Horowitz a few years back. Now on the other side of the coin, it's not surprising that TOTUS took UNC, what after his hobnobbing with Roy Williams, Tyler Hansborough, and co last year. Plus you have UNC and Duke actively trying to outliberal each other every year.
So I may be making too big of a deal of this but that'd be akin to saying Paul Revere and Patrick Henry were making mountains out of molehills as well. GO ZAGS!
12th man .... Priceless
ReplyDeleteTHIS WAS BORROWED FROM A FRIEND:
ReplyDeleteHOW TO START EACH DAY WITH A POSITIVE OUTLOOK
1. Open a new file in your computer.
2. Name it ‘Barack Obama’.
3. Send it to the Recycle Bin.
4. Empty the Recycle Bin.
5. Your PC will ask you: ‘Do you really want to get rid of ‘Barack Obama?’
6. Firmly Click ‘Yes.’
7. Feel better?
GOOD - Tomorrow we’ll do Nancy Pelosi!
"I like Sara Palin...but I think 2012 will not be her year to be run for President, mainly because of the economic, political and social climate. "
ReplyDeleteBTW I would almost have to agree, at least with the first half of this statement. But not because of any economic (or any other) concern. If it seems as if the media is turning on Obama, don't buy it. They invested way too much in him for the last two years (remember Chris Matthews is going to MAKE SURE he succeeds!) to just drop him even if his F-100 period is set become the worst of any president's in modern history or the fact his approval numbers might be hovering around the lower 40s.
Why waste the bonafide star that Sarah is, especially since a good number of the voting populace will still likely be stricken with Obamania and this weak imitation conservatism that afflicts most of the GOP won't be completely rooted out yet? Better to offer up Myth, Huckster or Sanford as the sacrificial
lamb and then unleash the full power of the Deathstar (so to speak) running up to 2016.
That way, she'll have a second term (if she wants it, and she'll get it, despite what all the RINOs at the Alaska SubStandard--A.S.S.--want), and be in a better position.
Gelston I did it (Do you want to remove 'Barack Obama'?), and I DO feel better!
ReplyDelete12thman, I agree with you on Sarah not running in 2012. The MSM still loves Obama. He would need an approval rating around 40% to lose. Gov. Palin didn't reject all the stimulus funds. She just wants it debated to make sure that it is right to either take the money or reject some. Unlike Washington where they passed it without reading it.
ReplyDeleteThere are some who supported Obama taht are turning on him. As of right now he looks overmatched. Gibbs is really terrible.
ReplyDeleteLooks like she is backtracking already.
ReplyDeleteHi Flavor Country,
ReplyDeleteGov. Palin is not backtracking. She just wants an honest debate on the stimulus funds if they are good long term for Alaska. Which is what Obama should have done before he passed a 1 trillion dollar spending without anyone reading it. Obama and the Dems are overreaching. That is why Repubs's have pulled even on Congressional and independents.
That is the GOP has pulled even with Dems on the Congressional ballott.
ReplyDeleteI just found this site - Hi!- My thought is that 2012 will be Mitt's year. I'd love to see a Romney/Palin ticket, followed by Palin/Jindal in 2020
ReplyDelete"Looks like she is backtracking already."
ReplyDeleteWho's the troll?
I'll never understand why people who are opposed to a certain figure would go to a pro-Palin (or pro-Telly) site or wherever (not to mention spreading falsehoods to boot)?
The fact is she technically isn't rejecting the stimulus money because Team Nope has made that all but impossible by attaching the extra stimulus to the normal appropriations. The fact that she's bringing this out in the open (since Telly couldn't be bothered to) might even be better. Backtracking? You mean like Lord Messiah does everyday?
You know I remember you from Draft Palin, what's the matter, O-bot-mania down tonight or something?
